How rapid is the churn for the most common occupations in this region?
The future of work means churn. Sectors, industries, companies, occupations, and people will all be changed by technology. The growing and eroding opportunities are already evident. For example, a nurse and a fast-food worker are both very common occupations in our region. There are 70,350 nurses and 61,870 fast-food workers. However, the future of each role is very different. The Bureau of Labor Statistics makes it easy to identify the region’s top 50 most common occupations. These 50 occupations total more than 1.3 Million jobs and 51% of our region’s workforce. Below are two lists: the 10 most common & growing occupations and the 10 most common & eroding occupations, from 2015 to 2019. Stay tuned for updates when the 2021 data is released in March 2022.
